Job Description:
This new position will help define and execute PlayFirst’s next generation casual gaming experience. You will be one of the leaders in our evolution from single player, stand-alone casual games to online, connected worlds built around our popular brands, new business models and community play. You will direct and inspire a cross-functional team of game producers, engineers and artists, being the voice of both process and execution. This is a highly visible role reporting to the VP of Game Publishing and collaborating across the entire organization. Responsibilities:
* Identify new business models and help build entertainment products around them.
* Manage a team of producers responsible for building and executing new entertainment products and supporting technologies.
* Relentlessly drive metrics-based strategy and decision making.
* Manage and inspire teammates, developing strong positive relationships with the staff you are directly and indirectly overseeing.
* Work well cross-functionally with marketing, game design, engineering, QA and others to reach consensus and drive results.
* Drive feature development across existing and new games.
* Oversee and give specific direction on product development lifecycle from consumer research to market analysis to managing implementation to testing and ongoing product evolution.
* Hands-on project management of large projects – working to timeline and keeping to budget.
Requirements:
* 7+ years professional experience (out of school) in consumer technology product development.
* Highly intelligent, action and detailed oriented team player with a successful track record in building and managing successful teams and launching compelling online products.
* An insatiable appetite for learning new approaches, sharing learned best practices, and the maturity to apply judiciously.
* Cross-functionally capable and seasoned consensus builder; able to lead through influence.
* Demonstrated ability to strategize, define and deliver large, long-term products.
* Previous games experience a bonus but NOT required; previous people management experience is.
* Experience writing typical product management documents such as MRDs and functional specs.
* Excellent written and verbal English-language communication skills.
* Eligible to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship.
Preferred:
* Computer Science degree or web programming experience.
* Previous experience building a large web community.
* Current Bay Area resident.
Level and salary to be determined by experience and education.
