Job Description
These staffers will be charged with developing story pitches, proactively pitching them to media of all kinds, following up to ensure placement and message delivery and tracking / reporting on coverage. These staffers must be creative, entrepreneurial storytellers able to sell the NASCAR story in sports, news, lifestyle and social media channels locally, regionally and nationally across the entire calendar year.
It is imperative these professionals have a collaborative approach as they will be required to work with other members of the Integrated Marketing Communications team and communications people among all stakeholder groups (e.g. race teams, tracks, etc.) in the process of story development and execution.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
1. Developing media relationships with key outlets beyond the normal scope for NASCAR; pitching and placing stories with these outlets.
2. Developing storyline content, pitch documents / letters / notes and all other activities relevant to proactive media relations.
3. Integrating with key internal and external stakeholders on story development and execution of interviews, etc.
A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent is preferred with at least four years related experience in Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Media Relations. Agency experience strongly preferred.
