Job Description
New Media SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the VP of Marketing, this position will lead the management, development and strategic direction of NESN.com and NESN’s other new-media ventures. This position is responsible for growing the business through product development and revenue-generating initiatives while working directly with NESN’s executive team and managing partnerships with outside vendors. The Director of New Media will directly manage a staff that may include technical producers, editorial content managers and web producers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: # Establish and implement NESN’s new media strategy, and internet marketing and user-experience strategies to maximize the exposure of NESN.com # Build and manage a new media staff. Responsible for managing staff’s performance and overseeing and managing projects to ensure the implementation of new media initiatives are effective and of high-quality. # Identify, develop and maintain partnerships for syndication opportunities. Work with programming to identify and implement content that has syndication potential. # Oversee the design and marketing of the NESN.com website, and define and prioritize new site features while maintaining user-friendly functionality # Develop NESN.com’s content parameters and ensure that all web development goals and deadlines are achieved # Integrate NESN.com with NESN’s marketing promotions, maximizing website usability, promotion and revenue generating programs # Partner with NESN’s marketing team to identify marketing venues and implement marketing and PR initiatives in the new media space # Work closely with the Creative Services team to create a cohesive strategy and ensure that website content, look and feel, etc. represent NESN’s overall marketing strategy # Work with NESN’s ad sales team to fulfill client needs in the new media space # Stay current with new media trends and technology in order to position NESN at the forefront of local sports properties on the Web. # Build and manage relationships with outside vendors EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; MBA a plus QUALIFICATIONS: # A minimum of 7 years of experience in the field or in a related area – preferably in the broadcast industry. Experience must include solid management, project management and product development experience and experience identifying and developing partnerships with outside organizations # Solid experience creating new media strategies and developmental plans, and overseeing plans through to successful implementation. # Comprehensive understanding of the latest trends in the interactive industry and a proven track record of analyzing trends to develop effective new media strategies # Advanced knowledge of user behavior and the competitive landscape for consumer entertainment businesses and websites # Extensive experience managing and/or developing consumer web content/tools/applications and must have a proven track record of developing innovative, integrated website projects on-time and within budget. # Sound technical knowledge of Web applications, Web video tools, e-commerce applications, online ad-serving applications, analytics software, and QA processes # Solid track record of successfully working in a fast paced, loosely structured environment that is growing and changing # Must have strong communication skills # Must be a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision but also able to work effectively within a team environment
