Job Description
TNS views its Human Resources professionals as critical to the strategic success of its business. The VP, Human Resources will provide comprehensive human resources support to a diverse client base in order to enhance the overall business performance of the assigned departments and achieve business imperatives and outlined goals and objectives. This position also assists managers and employees in understanding and applying HR tools in order to maximize employee performance, achieve organizational effectiveness, improve employee's engagement and ensure legal compliance. Additionally, the VP, Human Resources oversees the day-to-day operations of the Benefits function as well as human resources’ policies, procedures and programs.
This position is responsible for acting as a strategic business partner to align client groups with the overall company strategy and to support those client groups by understanding their core business strategies, goals, objectives and means to achieve these targets. This position involves independent decision-making based on business acumen and the understanding of the potential financial impact, basic knowledge of financial P&L, its impact on the client group, company guidelines, policies and procedures.
Required Skills
Provide comprehensive HR support to employees in diverse client groups to achieve company priorities and key performance indicators.
Collaborate with client groups, HR team and staff to create and apply operational best practices that emphasize quality, organizational effectiveness, employee engagement and the continued development of an exceptional workforce.
Play an integral role in advising client groups to meet or surpass budget requirements from a staffing perspective.
Partner with and consult with managers to drive change initiatives that enhance business performance and to drive new process creation and implementation.
Ensure company’s approach to performance management is embedded throughout client groups by managing the launch and implementation of the performance appraisal and development plan process.
Engage with managers to drive a pay for performance mentality and to align compensation with performance within budgetary and merit increase guidelines.
Conduct talent assessments for client groups to identify key roles, successors, capability gaps, career paths and employee development
Work in conjunction with the HR team to analyze, design, development, maintenance, revision and implementation of employee programs and services that enhance and optimize working conditions for TNS employees.
Within client group, drive the organization’s annual employee engagement survey by utilizing results to engage in action planning and implementation of proposed changes.
Lead the talent initiative within client group focused on recruiting, retaining, developing and training staff with specific emphasis on building future leaders for the organization and effectively developing our mid-level talent.
Identify current/future openings, identify “at risk” staff and identify training programs to develop key talent.
Work with senior managers to advise them on best practices for dealing with problem and low-performing employees, helping them to effectively implement and navigate performance improvement plans and possible termination.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments and applicable laws regarding human resources.
Work with the HR team to maximize advantage of relationship with TNS Global, Kantar and WPP.
Ensure TNS, Kantar and/or WPP policies and procedures are well understood and adhered to by all employees.
Supervise the delivery of a high quality benefit administration function to company employees.
Performs other human resources projects and administrative duties when needed.
Required Experience
6+ years of broad-based Human Resources experience, at least three of which must be at the management level.
Bachelor’s Degree in related field required; a PHR certification or a Master's degree in business, HR, or industrial relations is a plus.
Deep talent management experience, with demonstrated specialist experience in one HR functional areas of benefits, compensation, recruitment or training
Some level of experience in all other HR functional areas including staffing, training, compensation, benefits and employee relations.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, along with proven analytical skills, leadership skills and the ability to maintain confidential information.
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Strategic vision and insight about human resource needs within a company.
Understanding of the workings of a large, global organization is highly desirable.
Knowledge of Federal, State and local employment laws.
Advanced experience in the use of the Microsoft Office suite.
Travel approximately 10%.
